This fall, the School of Public Policy will offer a new Social Entrepreneurship course (PLCY689D) taught by adjunct professor Bethany Henderson. We are pleased to welcome Professor Henderson, a highly regarded cross-sector leader, to the School.

Open to Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management and Leadership and Masters students, this course will provide aspiring changemakers and social impact leaders with the opportunity to learn how to translate their passion into action.

During the semester, students will learn to create change through social entrepreneurship by launching or joining a social profit organization. This highly-interactive, hands-on course helps aspiring changemakers progress through the fundamental elements of effective social entrepreneurship: identifying a clear problem, testing a collaborative solution, measuring impact, and achieving sustainability.

Professor Henderson will apply the extensive knowledge and expertise she acquired as a leader in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. Currently, Bethany serves as the president of the America SCORES national network and CEO of DC SCORES, an award-winning sports-for-youth development nonprofit.

Henderson was named a 2017 Washington Business Journal nonprofit executive director of the year and a 2009 Echoing Green Fellow. Previously, she served in the White House, the City of New York, and as a big firm litigator. She earned her Doctor of Law from Harvard Law School and her master’s and bachelor’s degrees from the University of Pennsylvania.
